PERHAM — Unfortunately, for the many rural Minnesotan fans of author William Kent Krueger, he'll no longer be able to attend a portion of his book tour for his new novel, "The River We Remember," on Friday, Sept. 1, and Saturday, Sept. 2, due to a recent diagnosis with COVID-19. This includes his visits to greater Minnesota bookstores in Alexandria, Perham, Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Park Rapids.

"My symptoms are exceedingly mild, so at the moment no worries there," Krueger said in a post on his on Thursday, Aug. 31. "For those of you I won’t see in person, my apologies. But (COVID-19) continues to be a reality we all have to find a way to live with, and flexibility is probably the key."

Krueger will sign bookplates, which will be sent to the bookstores where he had to cancel his appearance. He also reported he was told by the CDC that he'll no longer be contagious on Tuesday, Sept. 5. He'll continue his originally scheduled tour on that date.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a "News Staff" byline. Often, the "News Staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
