While the thought of December in Minnesota might conjure up mental images of shoveling through snowbanks or enjoying outdoor activities while bundled up in layers of cold-weather attire, things are a bit different this year.

Despite the unseasonal weather, Bemidjians took part in winter staples like the Night We Light festivities, De-Stress With Pets at Bemidji State, ice fishing on partially frozen lakes and cheering on winter sports teams.

Pioneer photographers Annalise Braught, Madelyn Haasken and Maggi Fellerman captured these special moments along the way.
