"Progress is moving quickly through these parks, and we hope to have them open in the coming days," a release said.

All facility reservations scheduled between June 23 and July 6 have been canceled, and all recreation programming and camps have been suspended for the week of June 23-27.

Parks and Rec will be reaching out to registered participants and people with facilities reservations to discuss options for a credit, refund or rescheduling. For ongoing updates, visit Bemidji Parks and Recreation’s

Following severe storms and 100-mile-per-hour winds that caused damage throughout the city, many residents are searching for resources during a continued power outage that could last for days.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as cleanup and restoration efforts are underway," Parks and Rec said in the release. "Our team is working diligently to reopen the parks as soon as it is safe to do so. Please stay safe and avoid park areas during this time."

Depending on the progress made in the parks, Parks and Rec may offer a drop-in camp or program to provide care during the day.

In the coming days, after the damage has been assessed and needs are discussed, Parks and Rec will be looking for community volunteers to assist with clearing small debris from our main parks and trails.

Volunteers are asked to bring a pair of work gloves, and can spend anywhere from one hour to a whole day helping clean up the parks.

To volunteer, contact Outreach Coordinator Emma Realing at (218) 556-9284 or emma.realing@ci.bemidji.mn.us.
