In early December, while working with Kingbird's family, concern increased as it appeared no one had been in contact with her since October.
The Bemidji Police Department intensified its investigation, which included ground searches of Kingbird's last known location by law enforcement, the Bemidji Fire Department and Kingbird's family and friends.
During the follow-up investigation, a possible sighting of Kingbird was reported, the release said. A resident in the area of Washington Ave. SW and Pine Grove St. SW reported a young female in the area of their home between the hours of 3:30 and 4 a.m. on Oct. 22.
The location of the possible sighting is just south of Southview Terrace Park, which is the last known location of Kingbird in the early morning hours of Oct. 22.
The description given by the resident matched Kingbird and the clothing matched what friends said she was wearing a few hours before she was reported as a runaway, the release said.
