BEMIDJI — The attached garage of a Liberty Township home suffered significant damage after a fire broke out there around 2 a.m. on Monday, just north of Bemidji.
According to a release from Fire Chief Justin Sherwood, at 2:04 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, the Bemidji Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 13000 block of Beaver Lodge Lane in Liberty Township, 15 miles North of Bemidji.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found a single-story residential structure with heavy smoke coming from the attached garage. Using a 1 3/4-inch handline, they went into offensive mode and found a large amount of fire. Additional crews arrived on the scene, assisting with fire extinguishment and overhaul, the release said.
Twenty-four firefighters and 10 pieces of equipment were on the scene for approximately two hours. The garage and its contents suffered significant damage; however, minimal damage occurred inside the home.
The fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental and no injuries have been reported.
The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Solway Fire Department and Beltrami Electric also assisted at the scene.
