Additional crews arrived to assist with extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul operations.

The fire is currently under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature, the release said. No injuries have been reported.

With temperatures dropping, the Bemidji Fire Department has issued a reminder to follow these heating tips to maintain a fire-safe home during the winter months:
- Keep anything that can burn at least three feet from all heat sources including fireplaces, wood stoves, radiators, space heaters or candles.
- Never use an oven to heat a house.
- Turn space heaters off when leaving a room or going to bed.
- Maintain heating equipment and chimneys by having them cleaned and inspected each year by a professional.
