Four Pines Bookstore to host author Barry Babcock

BEMIDJI — Four Pines Bookstore will host Minnesota author Barry Babcock at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the bookstore, 102 Third St. NW.

Babcock's new non-fiction book, details the life of George Bonga, an Ojibwe and Black man, and his life as fur trader, entrepreneur and interpreter for the U.S. government, a release said.

Participants can hear Babcock discuss Bonga's influence in the Bemidji and Leech Lake area.

Babcock is also the author of in which he shares his experiences living in Minnesota's Northwoods. He is "an avid reader and environmental activist who deeply cares about the land and history of Minnesota," the release said.

The event is free, but attendees must pre-register.
