Culture and community celebrated at Red Lake Nation Fair and Powwow
Held Aug. 9-11, the event consisted of fair exhibits, activities for children, a parade, a community feast, a fishing derby and more.

RED LAKE — The Red Lake Nation Fair and Powwow drew hundreds of dancers and attendees over the weekend for its three days of events.
Held Aug. 9-11, the event consisted of fair exhibits, activities for children, a parade, a community feast, a fishing derby and more. Participants gathered at the powwow grounds in full regalia for a grand entry each day, making their way around the circle to the rhythm provided by several drum groups.

Red Lake Nation royalty was also crowned during the powwow. Maryana Kingbird was named Jr. Miss Red Lake Nation, Biidwe Kingbird was named Jr. Red Lake Nation Brave, Steven Bellanger Jr. was named Sr. Red Lake Nation Brave and Madison Kingbird was named Sr. Miss Red Lake Nation.
