BEMIDJI — Tonight’s Bemidji City Council meeting will begin with a special open house for Ward 3 Councilor Ron Johnson at 5 p.m. recognizing his long tenure on the council.

Johnson has been on the council since 2000, but due to redistricting in 2022, he was unable to run for the seat and instead ran for the Ward 1 position in the Nov. 5 general election against incumbent Gwenia Fiskevold Gould, who won 509 to Johnson's 381 votes. Mark Dickinson was elected as the new Ward 3 representative on the council, leaving tonight as Johnson's final meeting.
