BEMIDJI — A garage along Roosevelt Road SE has suffered significant damage after a fire broke out on Monday evening in Bemidji Township.
According to a release from Bemidji Fire Chief Justin Sherwood, at 5:44 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire about two miles east of town in Bemidji Township.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 25-by-30-foot detached garage heavily involved in fire, the release said. Initial crews pulled a 1 3/4-inch attack line and began extinguishing efforts from the exterior.
As more crews arrived, additional lines were deployed to assist with extinguishing the fire. A total of 25 firefighters and nine pieces of equipment were on the scene for approximately two hours.
The garage and its contents suffered significant damage, the release said. No injuries were reported despite the frigid temperatures. The fire is currently under investigation but appears to have been accidental.
The Bemidji Ambulance Service, Beltrami County Sherriff’s Office and Beltrami Electric assisted the Bemidji Fire Department at the scene.
