Applications for Beltrami Electric's Washington DC Youth Tour due Feb. 3

Beltrami Electric Cooperative is accepting applications from eligible high school juniors to attend the 59th annual Washington, D.C., Youth Tour set for June 16-21. The deadline to apply is Feb. 3.

BEMIDJI — Beltrami Electric Cooperative is accepting applications from eligible high school juniors to attend the 58th annual Washington, D.C., Youth Tour set for June 16-21.

"The annual Washington Youth Tour is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event for Minnesota high school juniors,” Angela Lyseng, youth tour coordinator for Beltrami Electric, said in a release.

Since 1964, America’s electric cooperatives have sent students to the nation’s capital to give future leaders in co-op communities a front-row seat to the American government.

Students on the tour will participate in leadership training, engage in one-on-one conversations with elected officials, jumpstart their national peer network and tour Washington, D.C.

Minnesota sent 35 students to the tour in 2024. Students travel to Washington, D.C., by plane, the release said.

To qualify, applicants must be high school juniors whose parent/guardian is a member of Beltrami Electric Cooperative. Students can apply online at The deadline to apply is Monday, Feb. 3.
