30 dogs participate in Great River Rescue's inaugural Howl-o-Ween Walk

Great River Rescue held its first-ever Howl-o-Ween Walk on Saturday, Oct. 26, with over 30 community dogs, and one cat, dressed up in their finest costumes.

BEMIDJI — Great River Rescue held its first-ever Howl-o-Ween Walk on Saturday, Oct. 26, with over 30 community dogs, and one cat, dressed up in their finest costumes.

"Attendees walked the trails, bobbed for apples and carrots, had their photos taken, and had a great time meeting new friends and catching up with old ones," a release said. Many of the pet owners also dressed to match their pups for the occasion.

Winners of the costume contest are Louis, Pete and Weewee, the release said.

"Thank you to all volunteers for providing props and helping with the event," the release added. "Lucky Dogs provided hot dogs; Lueken's provided apples and carrots, apple cider and condiments; and Pepsi Nei Bottling provided bottled water."

Great River Rescue is a private, nonprofit, companion animal shelter located at 1612 Carr Lake Road SE in Bemidji.
