ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The Jacob Wetterling memorial service next weekend in St. Joseph, will be open to the public, but advance RSVPs are required.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the College of St. Benedict in Wetterling’s hometown. Space will be limited and guests should sign in at to get specific information on the location and parking.

St. Joseph is hosting the Millstream Arts Festival that same day, so organizers anticipate significant traffic in the small town.
The memorial service will be live-streamed at for anyone who wants to watch it from home.
Jacob, the 11-year-old son of Patty and Jerry Wetterling, was abducted from a road near their St. Joseph home Oct. 22, 1989.
Almost 27 years later, Danny Heinrich, 53, of Annandale, Minn., led investigators to Jacob’s body and confessed Sept. 6 to kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing Jacob. He will be sentenced Nov. 21.
