LITTLE FALLS, Minn. - A woman died Monday, May 15, in a crash with a vehicle traveling the wrong way on U.S. Highway 10 near Little Falls, the driver of which was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the crash that killed 86-year-old Dolores Ann Mickow of Wabasha occurred at 4 p.m. Monday in Belle Prairie Township. Mickow died at the scene of the crash.
According to the crash report, 70-year-old Lana Jean Nornberg of Little Falls was driving south in the northbound lane in a 2005 Subaru four-door vehicle. The Subaru sideswiped a semitrailer before hitting the Ford Escape - in which Mickow was a passenger - head on.
The driver of the Ford Escape, 52-year-old Patricia Ann Gerchy of Bemidji, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. Semi driver John Russell Hulst, 38, of Viking, and a passenger - Kayla Sue Barth, 28, of Viking - were not injured in the crash.
A preliminary breath test performed at the scene showed Nornberg was under the influence of alcohol. said Highway Patrol Sgt. Neil Dickenson Tuesday. Nornberg was not arrested at the scene, but was instead transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dickenson said a blood sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to test for alcohol, the results of which could form the basis of possible criminal charges. The sergeant said it can take up to a month for test results, although often in cases involving a fatality results are returned sooner.
