Oak Hills to lead Holy Land tour in 2019
BEMIDJI-Oak Hills Christian College will lead a biblical study tour to Israel beginning Jan. 3, 2019. Gale Struthers, professor in biblical studies at Oak Hills Christian College, will lead the trip. The tour will feature biblical instruction at sites in Israel, including many not typically encountered by tourist groups, according to a press release.

The tour will visit Jaffa, Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Megiddo, Mount of Beatitudes, the Sea of Galilee, Dan, Caesarea Philippi, Capernaum, Beth Shean, Qumran, Ein Gedi, the Dead Sea, Masada, Beer-sheva, Lachish, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Mount of Olives, Via Dolorosa, Garden Tomb, Rabbinic Tunnels, Israel Museum, Yad Vashem and the City of David. The tour also includes a free day in Jerusalem.
All tour participants will have opportunities for personal pilgrimage and worship experiences, including being baptized in the Jordan River and communion at the Garden Tomb. Participants also will partake in a first century Passover meal.
The tour is offered for $3,399. This includes round trip flights from the Twin Cities, hotels, an English speaking guide and all tour costs. For further details, visit .

Christian Women's meeting planned for June 18
BEMIDJI-The Christian Women's summer dinner meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 18, in the Eagles Club's back community room. The event will include patriotic music before the American Legion and Auxiliary shares a patriotic theme as the evening's feature. Webber and Will to play for BACM

BEMIDJI-Bemidji Area Church Musicians will present Ryan Webber, bass trombone, and Dan Will, piano, in the third recital in the summer series at noon on Wednesday, June 20, at Evangelical Free Church. The concert will feature "Andante" by Russian composer A. Tcherepnin, The Four Serious Songs by J. Brahms, and "Sonata in A Minor" by J. Gaillard, arranged by J. Mortimer for bass trombone, will round out the program.
The concert is open to the public. A free-will offering will be received at the door for the scholarship program of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians. A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. Evangelical Free Church is located at 115 Carr Lake Road SW.

Missionary League plans biennial convention
BEMIDJI-The Lutheran Women's Missionary League of the Minnesota North District will meet June 18-20 for its 28th Biennial District Convention. The LWML is the official women's auxiliary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, according to a press release. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, at the Sanford Center, 1111 Event Center Drive NE. The convention will begin with a worship service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 29th St.
There also will be a Mite Walk at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, from the Sanford Center to Paul and Babe to raise funds for the Mission goal as adopted by the convention.

Convention business will include electing officers for the biennium, choosing mission grant recipients, setting a new Mite goal and making bylaw changes. The keynote speaker will be Cynthia Khan, director of community engagement for People of the Book Lutheran Outreach. The Slew Foot Family Band from Grey Eagle will provide entertainment. Rev. Bruce Timm of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud will be the Bible study leader. Deb Larson, vice president of organizational resources, will serve as a representative for the LWML.
L'Ambizioso Duo concert scheduled June 21
BEMIDJI-The L'Ambizioso Duo will perform a concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at Bemidji United Methodist Church.
Sponsored in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts Council and the McKnight Foundation, the concert is free and open to the public. Free-will offerings will be accepted, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase CDs.
Italian for "The Ambitious Duo," the L'Ambizioso Duo is composed of bothers Brock and Brayden Drevlow from Thief River Falls. Brock is a Jephson Educational Trust Scholar and is pursuing a degree in double bass performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Brayden is a GE/Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar and is currently pursuing a degree in piano performance at Concordia College in Moorhead.
The Bemidji event is part of the duo's 2018 summer tour around the Midwest.
