On Sunday, the 40-acre prescribed burn will be on County Road 9, approximately seven miles northeast of Bena. The prescribed burns are in mature red and white pine sites and will help reduce hazardous fuels and restore ecosystem functions, a release said.

While fire crews are on location, columns of smoke may be visible from a long distance. For more information, contact the Chippewa National Forest at (218) 547-1044.
