Child killed after being run over in west-central Minnesota

CANBY, Minn. – A 21-month old child was killed Saturday, June 15 after being run over by a vehicle in Lac qui Parle County.

The incident is being considered an accident and foul play is not suspected, according to a news release from the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident was reported at 6:10 p.m. on private property in Freeland Township, located on the western edge of Minnesota.

According to a news release, a 2010 GMC Acadia ran over the child, who was transported to Sanford Canby Medical Center and then pronounced dead.

The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Department and Midwest Medical Examiner’s office are investigating the incident.

Canby is about 50 miles east of Watertown, S.D.
