Officers were called to the intersection of Eighth Street Northwest and North Mark Avenue around 3:44 a.m. Sunday on a reported assault. A press release said a second call from another home at the intersection reported someone was trying to break into a home.

When police arrived, Timothy Hauge was laying down partially on the curb not breathing, a press release said.

Deputies performed CPR on Timothy Hauge until Essentia Health EMS arrived, the release said. Timothy Hauge, of Fosston, was later pronounced dead. His body was brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Grand Forks.

Nicholas Hauge was standing nearby when police arrived. He was booked into the Northwest Regions Correctional Center in Crookston.

Fosston is about 45 miles east of Crookston and about 45 miles west of Bemidji along U.S. Highway 2.
