The Blackduck Board met Monday night to welcome and swear in the newly re-elected members: Cynthia Nord was re-elected to Chairperson; Grant Mistic was re-elected to Vice Chairperson; Donna Stroeing was re-elected to Treasurer; and Bob Klug, Jr. was re-elected to Clerk.
Community Education and Athletic Director Ryan Grow spoke at some length to address the shortages of bus drives and the subsequent problems.

According to Grow, one of the consequences of the shortage may be reducing traveling teams’ schedules.
There are not enough drivers to accommodate the teams traveling to various locations for games and tournaments and maintain the standard drop-off routes for students.
Superintendent Mark Lundin expressed frustration with some bus drivers having to pick up two teams just to get athletes to their events. Similarly, students are being dropped off several hours before their games even start.
“Cass Lake dropped their kids off at 2:30 and they weren’t scheduled to play until 5,” Grow said. “It worked out well; we had them playing kickball and a lot of them did homework but we’re not the only school facing a shortage.”
“I really want people to know we have a huge shortage,” said Lundin. “People are either going to have to step up or we just can’t go. And it’s not just Blackduck, it’s statewide.”
Grow said there is “a likelihood” that schedules may have to be reduced if “this trend of driver shortages continues.”
