BEMIDJI-About 1,460 students are expected to graduate from five Bemidji-area colleges and universities this month.

Bemidji State University, Northwest Technical College, Oak Hills Christian College, Leech Lake Tribal College, and Red Lake Nation College all have scheduled graduation or commencement ceremonies in May.

Here's a brief rundown of each ceremony, organized by date:

Friday, May 10

Bemidji State University, 2 p.m. at the Sanford Center. Alan Page, a Hall of Fame Minnesota Vikings lineman who went on to become a venerated justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court, is scheduled to speak. University staff expect about 1,221 students to formally earn a graduate or undergraduate degree.

Northwest Technical College, 7 p.m. at the Sanford Center. The college's commencement speaker is scheduled to be Tim Lutz, the superintendent at Bemidji Area ÍáÍáÂþ»­s. College staff expect to confer a degree, diploma, or certificate to about 170 students.

Saturday, May 11

Oak Hills Christian College, 10 a.m. at Bemidji Evangelical Free Church. College staff said about 17 students will earn a degree at the ceremony.

Saturday, May 18

Leech Lake Tribal College, 1 p.m. at Cass Lake-Bena High ÍáÍáÂþ»­. College staff have scheduled artist, entrepreneur, and community organizer Sarah Howes, a Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa member, to speak. They expect about 32 students to graduate.

Thursday, May 23

Red Lake Nation College, 11 a.m. at the Seven Clans Casino, Hotel, and Event Center in Red Lake. College staff expect about 12 students to graduate.
