The young mermaid Ariel, played by Sophia Hordichok, struggles with the same complexities all teenagers face as they learn to face the world in discovering who they are. She loves the stories associated with humans and often visits the surface to see them in action, but her father, King Triton, played by Marek Kolodji, eventually forbids her from doing so in fear for her life.

Her six sisters also admonish her, but soon Ariel allows mermaid inquisitiveness to overtake common sense as she and her friends Flounder (Lydia St. Peter), Sebastian (Noah St. Peter) and Scuttle (Elijah Wood) find themselves in precarious situations, always staying just one step ahead of catastrophe.

Under the guidance of his counselor Grimsby (Sam Stalboerger), they set out in a Cinderella glass slipper adventure to find that perfect maiden, only to be foiled by the sea witch Ursula, portrayed by Macy Goosen, who fools Ariel into surrendering her beautiful voice for three days. If Ariel can get the prince to fall in love with her during that time, she will remain human.
