Impressionistic oil painting
Participants age 16 and older can sign up to create an oil painting on an 8-by-10-inch birch board panel from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Watermark Art Center, 505 Bemidji Ave. N.

Darcy Brambink will instruct attendees in the impressionistic style of color and brushwork for landscape painting. Attendees will work with water-based oils, with no solvents.
The class will discuss tonal values and creating a "tonan," a release said. The group will also learn how to color tone the background before painting begins.
This class costs $100, which includes materials. Pre-registration is required.
Glass mosaic course
Instructor JoAnn McFarlin will teach attendees to create a glass-on-glass mosaic house from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.

Using a variety of stained glass pieces, participants will learn techniques including glass cutting, proper adhesive use, grouting and color composition. The finished piece will be approximately 4-by-7 inches and ready to hang.
Attendees aged 16 and older of all experience levels are welcome. Registration is required. The cost is $65, with an additional $10 materials fee payable to the instructor at class time.
Live model figure drawing
A monitored open studio class for figure drawing from a live nude model will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, May 1-22.

Participants of all skill levels, ages 18 and older, will refine their skills, capture the human form and study light and shadow, the release said.
The model will offer multiple poses ranging from 2-30 minutes. While a Watermark staff member will be present to facilitate, instruction will not be provided.

The class fee is $40 and includes all four sessions. Participants are responsible for bringing their own drawing materials, but Watermark will supply drawing horses, easels, tables and chairs.
