Benson will share the personal story of Sudmeier, who played a vital role on the international stage during the Cold War. According to an HCCL news release, Sudmeier risked her life several times in the Middle East to gain intelligence on Soviet weaponry.
Former CIA Director John Brennan called Sudmeier the best spy the CIA ever had, the release states. She was also one of the women spies featured in the book “Wise Gals” by Nathalia Holt.
