According to an HCLL press release, Lovering retired from law enforcement in 2023 after a 31-year career. Starting as a part-time dispatcher, she was promoted to become the first female deputy sheriff in her county. She worked on investigations as a patrol sergeant and as a chief deputy, working on cases of fraud, theft and sexual assault. She even solved a 51-year-old missing person case.
Connecting with seniors was a special interest of hers, Lovering said. “I started out Triad group, which is a partnership between law enforcement, community groups and seniors. I served as a member of our Acting on Alzheimer’s group and participated in our senior fair.”
Lovering joined the Minnesota Department of Commerce in September 2023 as a senior financial exploitation investigator. In that role, she collaborates with financial institutions, adult protection and law enforcement agencies, families and friends of seniors to help older adults protect their money from frauds and scams.
