According to an HCLL media release, the GHB is the most recognizable form of the bagpipe, an ancient instrument with origins in the Middle East. “The GHB itself is one of the most storied instruments in history, steeped in drama, rebellion and conflict and played the world over,” the release says.
Egelhof will explore the form and function of the bagpipe, its music and its place in history, demonstrate playing the GHB and discuss how one learns the bagpipe.
Egelhof began learning the GHB as a teenager growing up in New York City, the release states. He has played in several bagpipe bands in New York and New Hampshire. He has played at numerous engagements, taught classes and is currently teaching privately.
