BEMIDJI — The invites the Bagley and Bemidji communities to learn about the benefits of 3D mobile mammography on Monday, Oct. 7, at two Sanford Health locations.

The truck will then be stationed at the 1233 34th St. NW, in Bemidji, from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be offered at both locations.

This new 3D mobile mammography unit will be the first-ever mobile mammography service to be offered in the Bemidji region, a release said.

According to the release, mobile mammography services will add more than 1,100 screenings each year, with appointments typically taking less than 25 minutes, eliminating the need for patients to take a day off work.

With community support, Sanford Health is launching the first phase of bringing 3D mammography technology to more women in northern Minnesota, saving more lives by October 2025, added the release.

This first phase for mobile mammography in the Bemidji region will include Walker, Bagley, Blackduck, Cass Lake and Park Rapids, with additional locations to be added later.

"While mammograms are the first line of defense for detecting breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages, research shows that many women forgo these essential screenings due to barriers such as proximity to a local health care facility, lack of transportation, cost and other factors," the release said.
