BEMIDJI — The recently released its usage rundown for the month of June, which saw a record number of visits.
A total of 1,117 families visited the food shelf in June.

"This marks the 15th straight month of record usage," said Executive Director Michael Olson in a release. "If the present trends continue, we expect to serve 40,000 people in 2024, up from 37,000 in 2023."
Just over 73,000 pounds of food was distributed in June to 1,117 families consisting of 3,493 individuals. The value of the distributed food is calculated to be worth $125,000 to the community, the release said.
The number of first-time users continues to grow; 68 families came to the food shelf for the first time ever in June. Another area of need has been seniors who are seeking help; 418 were served in June.
