Minnesota Finlandia set for Feb. 19

The annual Minnesota Finlandia Cross Country Ski Marathon is returning for its 39th year on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Buena Vista Ski Area, 19600 Irvine Ave. NW.

BEMIDJI — The annual Minnesota Finlandia Cross Country Ski Marathon is returning for its 39th year on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Buena Vista Ski Area, 19600 Irvine Ave. NW.

"Our course conditions have never been better with enormous snowfall this year and what promises to be an exceptional day of scenic skiing both for racers and those touring the big woods of the north," a release said.

The cost to participate is $55 for the races and $25 for the tour. This year, registration will only be completed online or by mail.

Registrations must be received in the mail by Friday, Feb. 18. There will be no Friday night registration, the release said.

Race day bib pickup begins at 8 a.m. and the first start will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 19.

All awards will be done Minnesota-style at the finish line instead of the typical Hall of Fame gathering. There is no Hall of Fame hospitality feed this year, the release said.
