Great River Rescue recently received $2,500 as part of the 2024 Modern Woodmen of America "Go Wild for Animal Shelters" Matching Fund.

The shelter created an online campaign to raise funds, and 27 donations from $5 to $800 were made until enough was raised to access the matching fund, a release said.

The funds will help with the cost of this year's Pet Fixers Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Clinics, which rely on partner veterinarians and vet techs who travel from all over the state of Minnesota to provide their services at a reduced rate.

Modern Woodmen representatives toured the shelter, saw the Pet Fixers Clinic trailer and gave lots of puppy cuddles, the release said.

Modern Woodmen of America is a member-owned fraternal financial services organization.
