BAGLEY — The Bagley Public Library's book club will discuss "The Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon at its meeting at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at the library, 79 Spencer Clearwater Ave.

This gripping historical mystery is inspired by the diary of a renowned 18th century midwife.

"The book is set in Maine in 1789 and follows midwife and healer Martha Ballard as she investigates the murder of a man accused of rape and navigates the early American judicial system," a release said.

The Bagley Public Library is open from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
