BAGLEY — Northern Exposure to Lifelong Learning's spring series continues with Arn Kind presenting "Soldiers of the American Revolution," at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Bagley American Legion, 112 Main Ave. N.
Kind, a teacher with more than 48 years of experience, will give the program in a Continental Soldier uniform to share the experience of being a soldier in the war, a release said.

"The American Revolution was America’s first civil war," the release said. "It would split the country between Loyalists, who wanted to stay loyal to the king, and Patriots, who wanted to separate from Great Britain to become an independent nation."
Kind will make history come alive for his audience through his realistic and colorful portrayal of the people who participated in these events. He will bring maps, posters, clothing and artifacts to display and use in his presentation.
He will also act out some of these events using non-firing replicas of the arms used by soldiers in the American Revolution. These replicas are reproductions of the originals and cannot be loaded or fired, the release noted.
Volunteers from the audience have the opportunity to take on the role of soldiers in the Continental Army and will learn some of the rudiments of Von Steuben’s Drill Manual while handling wooden replicas of Revolutionary War muskets.
"Through drama, role-playing and living history experiences, Kind’s multi-media presentation will give participants an understanding of this turbulent time and make history come alive for attendees," the release said.
This program is sponsored in part by the Bagley American Legion and the Bagley Rotary Club.
This event is free and open to the public. The program will run until 1 p.m., with a break halfway through. Appetizers will be served for a free-will donation.
