BEMIDJI — Just Dandy, a business that Sonya Wolf started in her Puposky home nearly eight years ago, opened a downtown Bemidji store last weekend at 223 Third St. NW in a building formerly occupied by 218 Clothing + Gift.

The new store was bustling on opening day, Saturday, April 21. It tentatively plans to be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Just Dandy transitioned from a home business to a full-fledged operation in November 2022 upon completion of a 4,700-square-foot building at 16544 Puposky Road NW. It’s located on the 93-acre farm that’s been in the family of Wolf’s husband, John, for three generations. The store in Puposky is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Wolf started the business making and selling her homemade candles, but Just Dandy is way more than candles these days. Wolf calls her business an Eco Boutique and Refillery. Products include hand-poured candles, handcrafted soaps and products for bath, body, face, hair and home.

“I’m always researching, learning, trying a new thing, bringing a new thing to the area,” Wolf said in a “How can we make things better, or how can we help people slow down?”

Renovations at the downtown location began late in 2023. In a Facebook post following Saturday’s first day of business, Wolf wrote:

“Thank you so much for the enormous outpouring of love and support today as we opened our second location! I’ve got sunshine in my heart tonight thanks to all of you. We look forward to growing in this new space and appreciate the opportunity to help guide folks on their journey to decrease their single-use plastic consumption and lead a more Earth-friendly sustainable lifestyle.”
